Many card issuers have made changes to their card offerings in the last few weeks. They’ve primarily responded to the change in consumer behavior after the Covid-19 breakout. Similarly, we’ve seen Amex introduce a slew of changes and revamp many of their cards. One such card was the Business Platinum Card. Amex doubled the $200 Dell credit to $400. For 2020, Amex will let offer you $200 in credits during each half of the calendar year. As June winds down, there’s less than a week left to use these credits.

$200 Amex Dell Credit

The first half of the credit expires on the 30th of June. If you haven’t yet, then you should jump on it and make a purchase as soon as possible. In the past, I’ve often seen that Dell takes many days or sometimes even a week to process and post the transaction.

If you were planning on waiting till the last day, then it’s probably not a good idea. In order to qualify for the credit, you must first activate the credit in your card benefits section. After that, you transaction must have a posting date of June 30th or earlier. If you make a purchase on June 29th but it posts on July 2nd, you will miss out on the first half of the $400 credit.

Before you make your purchase, you can refer to these posts which will help you navigate the basics and also help you optimize this benefit:

The Pundit’s Mantra

If you maximize the benefits on the Amex Business Platinum Card, they can really help you save some money even when you’re not traveling. Amex truly deserves credit for swiftly making changes to many of their benefits in line with the change in consumer spend patterns. The revamped Dell credit is pretty simple to use and gives you an extra $200 in credits for this calendar year.

If travel numbers continue to remain stagnant, it will be interesting to see if Amex ends up making any temporary changes to their airline fee credit benefit for this year.

How did you use the $200 Amex Dell credit during the first half of the year? Did Amex’s card revamp convince you to renew any of their cards? Tell us in the comments section.
