Which Airline Just Became World’s Number One For 2017?

Qatar Airways is again the world’s number one airline according to ratings agency Skytrax. This is the fourth time the airline has received this award indicating continued high quality at the oneworld carrier.

World’s Best Business Class, World’s Best First Class Lounge and Best Airline In The Middle East are also awarded to Qatar. Watching along on Snapchat courtesy of the Qatar Airways account alerted me to all of these awards so well done.

Is World’s Best Deserved?

For the outsider, it is difficult to determine if an award is deserved. A person will need to fly regularly in all classes on all the airlines surveyed in order to make a proper call.

Qatar Airways Business Class probably is the best in the world. I flew four sectors on their business class in April and I wish all my flying was as good. You can check out the four flights below.

Pisa to Doha aboard the Airbus A320

Doha to Auckland on the Boeing 777-200LR

Auckland to Doha on the Boeing 777-200LR

Doha to Frankfurt on the new Airbus A350-900

Is my experience coloured by the novelty of the fact the flights between Doha and Auckland are the longest flights in the world? Or perhaps my first flight on the Airbus A350 meant I liked that flight more because of that fact?

Not at all. The flights above are all superb due to the fantastic crew, dine on demand meals, comfortable seats and decent entertainment. Coupled with an excellent ground service, Qatar definitely deserve the title of having world’s best business class.

Overall Thoughts

It is pleasing to see Qatar Airways scoop a number of awards as the world’s best. The airline is an excellent part of the oneworld alliance and personally I am delighted they have started flying to Dublin. It actually makes a Dublin to Sydney flight one stop and points earning so for me this is wonderful.

Congratulations to Qatar Airways and their hard working crew – well deserved as far as I am concerned. Thank you for reading and if you have any comments or questions, please leave them below.
