Win Great Prizes from National Car Rental and MJ on Travel

It has been a LONG time since we’ve had an MJ on Travel reader contest, but there’s no time like the present to make things right again and offer some great prizes. First, National Car Rental is celebrating a huge milestone. In honor of 25 years of their fabulous Emerald Club, they are giving away a $25 dollar National gift card over on their Facebook page if you enter the Blast From the Past Sweepstakes! Submit a story, photo, or video of what you were doing 25 years ago for an opportunity to win.

Better yet, National and MJ on Travel are teaming up to offer you even more prizes. The grand prize is a National “Go Like a Pro™” gift basket filled with great things for all of your business travel needs including a $25 dollar gift card for business travel purchases, a National tumbler, a National embossed leather writing pad, a National pen set, a weekend duffle bag and a driving kit. The second runner up will receive a $25 dollar gift card.

How do you enter?

That’s simple. All you need to do is comment to this post with details about where you were traveling 25 years ago. If you weren’t traveling, then just leave a comment about where you hope to travel in the future! It’s that simple!! The contest is open now, and running through 9am on March 25th. The winners will be chosen randomly, and will be announced the evening of March 25 26, 2012! This is a great opportunity to win something to help you travel well. Comment and don’t forget to tell your friends to visit Marshall Jackson on Travel for tips on traveling well and an opportunity win these great prizes!

And oh yeah, 25 years ago this month, I was earning my private pilot’s license. March 6, 1987 to be exact. I was 17. 🙂

Note: This promotion is sponsored by National Car Rental. Marshall Jackson on Travel is giving away all gifts offered to our great readers. I am not receiving any compensation in exchange for this offer.

Note: Contest closed winner TBA this evening (3/26).

  1. 25 years ago I was traveling up and down my cul-de-sac on a skate board and trying my hardest not to skin my knees (again).

  2. 25 years ago I was living in Taipei, happily enjoying my elementary school life, not knowing that in a couple years I would be moving to British Columbia, Canada!

  3. My husband got his private pilot’s license in 1986, when he was 18!
I was 15, 25 years ago and every summer I used to visit my family in England.
Looking forward to our RT Middle East/US trip this summer using points for flights, rental car and activities. And we are a family of 5!

  4. 25 years ago I would have been two years old living a few blocks away from the ocean. I would have likely been on the beach at the time. 🙂

  5. 25 years ago I was 1 years old, and was tno traveling much…But I am looing forward to my trip to Bridgadoon Lodge in a couple of weeks.

  6. I was a young lad back in 1987, so I wasn’t traveling way back then, but this summer I’m looking forward to my first trip visit to England, Belgium and France. Over 18 nights I’ll be visiting Oxford, Bristol, Bath, Welles, London, Ghent, Bruges, Brussels, and Paris. Using airline miles and hotel points earned primarily from credit cards, this is a pretty reasonable vacation: less than $900 for the 18 nights and 2 roundtrip tickets.

Thank you American Express, Chase and Citibank for all the miles and points. Thank you to all the MJ and all the other travel bloggers who have given so many great tips, and to Rick Steves and TripAdvisor commentators for all of the travel suggestions.

  7. Interviewing from Penn State meant flying weekly from State College (SCE) through Pittsburgh to places like Houston (Shell Oil), Bristol Tennessee (United Telephone (later Sprint)), Newark (Unisys), and Salisbury Maryland (Purdue Chickens). I’m pretty sure the airlines had some sort of triple miles promotion, and tickets were refundable. Those three flying recollections (Pittsburgh being a US Air hub, triple miles or refundable tickets) are far from memory today. I had 33,000 miles before I knew it, and I became hooked on the points game.

  8. 25 years ago I was not traveling yet… In the near future I’m excited to travel to Asia — Hong Kong — more specifically.

  9. 25 years ago I had just graduated college and was traveling across the great US southwest with no particular destination in mind.

  10. 25 years ago I was only 1 years old, so I immagine my travel consisted of breaking out of the crib and exploring the vast expanses of the living room and kitchen. And in the future my latest travel endeavor will be taking my first Around-the-World trip with AA hitting Asia, Australia and Europe.

  11. 25 years ago, I was 9 so traveling in the spring usually consisted of bike rides and car rides to the baseball field!

  12. 25 years ago, I was finishing up my freshman year of college. That is also the first time I joined a frequent flyer program to start gathering miles and it’s been a passion ever since.

  13. 25 years ago this week, headed to Alberta, Banff Canada on college spring break for a ski trip to Lake Louise . . .

  14. 25 years ago I was 2, and so really not traveling. However, I’m really looking forward to my trip to London this fall with BA First and VS Upper Class

  15. Twenty five years ago, the only travel I had experienced was to Myrtle Beach, SC. A few years later, I was married, and flew cross county to San Francisco for our honeymoon 🙂

  16. 25 years ago this time of year I would have been traveling to watch the Louisville Cardinals in the NCAA men’s basketball tournament. Don’t remember the exact site but it’s how I spent most March weekends in the ’80s.

  17. I was 15, and travelling weekly between YXE and YYC on Air Canada. But, in the future, I hope to get MJ a new notebook. The one pictured on the blog is a little out-of-date 🙂

  18. 25 years ago I was 11 years old. So obviously I was traveling as far as my bicycle would take me.
