Is it just me, or should all airports be required to make space for a Vino Volo? 🙂 For the record, this is not my first visit to a Vino Volo location, it just happens to be well-timed, uncrowded, and just about perfect for waiting for a flight. This particular location, Cincinnati, has power outlets around the space, and most importantly, underneath the bar for charging your phone or computer. Best of all, let’s face it that there just aren’t that many domestic airport lounges where one can do a decent wine tasting. Vino Volo even has a loyalty program, with status levels no less! Sorry, it’s revenue based. 🙂
For sure, I paid a visit to the Sky Club here at Cincinnati. The people were courteous as always, and it was not crowded at all. That said, the dearth of power outlets along with the knowledge that Vino Volo was nearby proved too tempting. Frankly, the Sky Club was so empty that my extraversion got the best of me. It was almost too quiet. So I’m loving the Vino Volo. Do you have a favorite pre-flight spot that supplants the airline lounge for you? Where?

LB’s Fairy Godmother is completely accurate. “Flights” of wine are considered a bonafide aeronautical activity and federally obligated airports are required to provide access to this activity per 49 U.S.C. 47107(a). However, airport sponsors cannot limit this access to to Vino Volo exclusively. That would violate paragraph (b) of the same statute and 40103(e).
Let’s see… “charming” Aer Lingus or Air France lounge in the BOS international terminal? Or Vino Volo, people watching, and a GREAT wine selection and imaginative food…. Tough call….

Vino Volo is our favorite stop before an international flight – especially in Washington – Dulles or Newark! A flight of “interesting reds” or “bubbles” is a terrific way to kick off an overnight flight — or pass the time for a long flight delay (Vino Volo @ BWI.)
Cheers!
I can’t wait to try it next time! Every airport should definitely have it
So, is this an airport lounge or a bar?
An airport wine bar.
Woulda been fun! Finally boarding after 4 hours delay–that would have been A LOT of wine drinking!
I’m at CVG now–been here all afternoon due to delays on US Air. I checked out The Club at CVG and found it similarly empty–at least they had Woodford Reserve!
Hey Chris, I’d say hi if I’d seen this a little earlier!
IAD at B gates! As for every airport having one, may I suggest you request the FAA promulgate a new policy for requiring Part 139 airports offer incentives for businesses offering flights of wine? They may consider that aviation based in that LOB.
Last Thursday I was very pleasantly surprised when I found out that there was a Vino Volo next to my southwest gate at CMH ….where I had plenty of time to enjoy the vino due to my delayed departure. Very nice place TP spend some time.
Vino Volo is my go-to place in SEA-TAC for preflight food and drink. It’s quiet, relaxing and at least nice for the pricing, unlike most airport restaurants.
I love Vino Volo. Very keen on the one at the bottom of the escalators from the US Air Club in PHL!
Been there, Nick! 🙂 I could swear they opened at like 7am the day I passed through.
