Doctor of Credit (H/T) has reported yesterday that the Jet Blue Plus Card has an all-time high sign-up bonus. Barclays is offering 60,000 bonus points for the Jet Blue Plus Card’s sign-up bonus. And the minimum spend for this bonus is just $1,000, making this bonus easy to earn for many travelers. The normal sign-up bonus is worth just 40,000 Jet Blue points with a minimum spend of $1,000.
Jet Blue Plus Card Overview
The Jet Blue Plus Card is one of the best co-branded airline cards in the industry. It’s also one of the best cards from Barclays, especially since they discontinued the Arrival + Card. The Jet Blue Plus Card has a $99 annual fee (NOT waived the first year), a great earning structure, and some excellent perks.
It earns 6x Jet Blue points on Jet Blue purchases, as well as 2x points per dollar on Dining and Groceries. And it earns just one point per dollar for non-bonus spend. This structure makes the card a nice earner for a few everyday purchases as well as Jet Blue purchases.
Furthermore, the Jet Blue Plus Card comes with some nice perks for all types of flyers. Some of these perks include:
- Free Checked Bags for the primary cardholder and up to three other people on the same reservation
- Anniversary Bonus worth 5,000 points
- 50% In-Flight Purchases
- Mosaic Benefits (after spending $50,000 per year on the card)
- No Foreign Transaction Fees
- 10% Points Bonus Upon Redemption (a standard perk among Barclays cards)
These are some great perks for a mid-tier card. And they could make the Jet Blue Plus Card a keeper card with just minimal use.
Final Draw
Simply put, this bonus is worth going for! 60,000 points is the highest bonus for this card since 2018. Furthermore, Barclays rarely increases the bonus for this card, so now is an excellent time to apply if you are a fan of Jet Blue.
The only other Jet Blue card that offers a bonus worth 60,000 points is the Barclays Jet Blue Business Card. This card is for small businesses and it has a different earning structure than its personal counterpart. Some entrepreneurs or small business owners might consider going for both cards if they really love flying Jet Blue. Both sign-up bonuses are worth a total of 120,000 bonus points for just $2,000 in spend.
If I were to get this card now could I use the free check bag on a flight I already booked? Never checked bags before but now with kiddos in tow I have started checking bags and being the last person to get on the plane.
Hi Dan, Thank you for reading PYCR (and sorry for the delayed response)! In short, the answer is no. You must have used the Jet Blue Plus Card to pay for the airfare. I found this on Barclays’ website: “You and up to 3 travel companions on the same reservation, who have purchased Blue fares, will each receive their first checked bag free on JetBlue-operated flights that do not include first checked bag free. All ticket purchases must be made with your JetBlue Plus Card, and the primary cardmember’s TrueBlue member number must be entered at the time of booking.… Read more »

Hi Isaac,
Thanks for reading PYCR! Technically it’s still at an all-time high even if it’s a tie.
Best Regards,
Anthony
