Dividend Miles’ up to 100 percent bonus on purchased or gifted miles is ending on July 31. The bonus varies, and is targeted. I received an email today reminding me that I was eligible. I lucked out:
You will need to surf over to the US Airways website and enter your name and Dividend Miles number. From there, you’ll see what bonus amount you are eligible for. From there, you can purchase the amount of miles you want. I only recommend buying miles if you have a specific award in mind, and you need a few miles to top off your account. I have to admit….I have a specific award in mind……. hmmmm.
UPDATE: There is some evidence out there that Star Alliance partners are already making it difficult to redeem US miles. Proceed with caution if Star redemptions were in your plan.

Unfortunately, it looks like USAirways miles may not be worth the paper they’re printed on for a while. With their imminent departure from Star Alliance, they seem to be getting a limited allocation of seats from other Star carriers. I was trying to book a premium ticket to Europe and Asia for December and while I was finding great award availability searching the Star Alliance carriers through both United MP’s and AC Aeroplan’s websites, USAirways was telling me that they have no availability. I’ve called a half dozen times (checking availability real time with UA and AC), and have gotten the same bovine response. Looks like I’ll have to wait until they join OneWorld in November before I can use the 200,000 USAirways miles I’ve accumulated.
