JetBlue have painted an aircraft in a special livery celebrating Puerto Rico. It is called Bluericua and has been designed with help from a group of crew in San Juan, Aguadilla and Ponce, Puerto Rico.

The whole plane is painted in bright blue, which makes it particularly striking. Wherever it goes, it is bound to stand out at airports where aircraft are commonly painted white.

Special Livery Details

According to the press release, seven kites are being flown, which represent symbols of Puerto Rico’s culture. For example, a single star that represents the flag, a Coqui which is a singing tree frog and a symbol of the island, and a Hibiscus which is the national flower.

Dominoes are a popular game, so the double six represents the highest tile. Also, there is a Tambourine to represent the popularity of music in the culture.

Why Puerto Rico?

Over 500 employees work for JetBlue in Puerto Rico and the carrier offers up to 48 flights daily. These serve 13 destinations in the United States, the US Virgin Island and the Dominican Republic.

The special livery celebrates this as well as the commitment the airline has to supporting the island. This is especially important after Hurricane Maria that devastated the island around a year ago. The recovery continues.

Overall Thoughts

Painting an aircraft in a special livery is always a good thing for an airline to do. The fact that this one is in support of a community in need and had input from the employees makes it even more special.
