Review: Sheraton Grand Seattle Hospitality Suite

Background:

After my work trip to Seattle, I decided to stay a few days afterwards to visit friends. My friend and I are were debating between staying at the W Seattle or the Sheraton Grand Seattle as the prices were similar, but the Sheraton would have club lounge access with Platinum Elite status. So we opted for the Sheraton! There are only 7 Sheratons in North America with the “Grand” designation, and I haven’t stayed at one before so I was excited to try it.

Check- In:

My friend tried applying a Suite Night Award, but we didn’t receive an upgrade and right before check-in, our room type was the same basic room. So, at check in, we asked the front desk agent if there were any upgrades as the “Hospitality Suite” was still showing as available. She typed around for a bit, and then she said she upgraded us to that suite! Woo-hoo!

Lobby

The lobby is quite nice, with a large seating area to the right and nice glass artwork from the local Seattle favorite Dale Chihuly. There is also a nice Starbucks in the lobby as well.

The Room:

There are two towers at the Sheraton Grand: Pike Tower and Union Tower. Our room was located in the Pike Tower, on the same floor (32nd) as the Executive Lounge.

The Hospitality Suite had two entrances, one to just the bedroom and one to the main living area. You can see a video tour of the suite below.

Upon entering the main living area, there’s a bar area with a minifridge, sink and two bar stools. Then, there’s a large couch and dining area with seating for 6. Plenty of room!

Down the hall, there’s a full bathroom before entering the bedroom area. The bed was quite comfortable and the room cleanliness was very good. The shower was very nice and relaxing. Quite the 4 star experience!

The bedroom features a large king sized bed, along with an ensuite bathroom with a shower.

Club Lounge:

The club lounge is quite large, with plenty of seating, ranging from tables, lounging sofa seating and bar seating with good views of the city. First, you’ll see coffee machines immediately to your left and right, as well as canned sodas. In the center, is where the food spread is located.

The lounge is open everyday, and serves breakfast from 6am-10am, and hors d’oeuvres from 5pm-8pm. Outside those hours, they have fruit and granola bars as well as the drink stations for use. It was nice to grab a nice hot tea/coffee before exploring the city!

The breakfast spread was standard for a domestic lounge, with scrambled eggs and sausage as the hot option. Pastries, cereal and a small fruit selection were also offered.

The hors d’oeuvres selection was quite disappointing. No free alcohol 🙁 and a very limited selection of snacks. Just a veggie platter, cheese + crackers and two dessert pastries. You could order alcohol from the menu, and I used a “free drink” welcome amenity we received.

Amenities:

The pool and fitness center are on the 35th (top) floor of the Pike Tower. The fitness center was cool in that it was 2 stories, but I didn’t have time for a workout.

Location:

The location of the Sheraton Grand Seattle is quite good, on 6th Ave next to plenty of shopping. And, the hotel is only a 5-10 minute walk to the famous Pike Place Market.

The Verdict:

Overall, I truly enjoyed my stay at the Hospitality Suite in the Sheraton Grand Seattle. The only improvement I would suggest would be the hors d’oeuvres offering in the Club Lounge. But otherwise, the hotel deserves its “Grand” designation and provided an excellent stay.

Overall, the Sheraton Grand Seattle provided an excellent experience and is definitely worth the grand designation. Well appointed rooms, good service and an excellent location make the hotel a great choice.
