The oneworld lounge at Amsterdam Schiphol airport is the second facility operated by the alliance after Seoul. This facility replaced the British Airways lounge and it certainly is a better experience altogether.
I was flying out of the Dutch capital on Aer Lingus and my ticket included lounge access. According to their website, the Aspire lounge next door was where I was to go. When I arrived, a lady directed me to, “see my colleague on the left”. At my obvious surprise, I was told, “Aer Lingus have only started using the lounge very recently” – happy, happy days!
Who Can Access The Lounge?
As per standard alliance rules, anyone travelling in business class or first class have access. In addition, anyone with a Sapphire or Emerald frequent flyer card with their airline is also permitted entrance. Clearly also Aer Lingus AerSpace customers and Silver, Gold and Concierge AerClub members also have access.
Oneworld lounge AMS
This is a truly lovely lounge. I had seen pictures before and it didn’t really grab me, but experiencing it is a different story altogether. Once you enter, you can go left or right, with plenty of seating options to suit your party.
Toilets
Something the old BA lounge did not have were its own toilets. An area has been carved out and you no longer need to leave the lounge to spend a penny.
Food and Drink
An impressive selection of food and drink is available at the self-service area. There were hot Asian options available when I was there in the morning, which was precisely what I needed after a weekend of partying with friends.
A wee tipple!
The serviced bar does barista coffee to order (I had a very good Latte) as well as drinks. For Champagne, they were pouring Bruno Roulot Brut and I had a glass, which was quite nice.
Overall Thoughts
The oneworld lounge in Amsterdam is a brilliant space to wile away some time before a flight. With an array of delicious food options, plenty of drinks to choose from and great service, it’s just enjoyable in every way.
Throughout my stay, the staff kept the place spic and span, with regular clearance of used dishes and constant replenishment of the food. It adds a lot to have everything always looking fresh, and they did a fantastic job.
