Background & Booking

I decided to visit Bermuda for the Labor Day weekend, as it is just a quick 2-hour flight from New York City.

Originally, I had a United flight booked out of Newark on a Boeing 737 with a 3-3 configuration, but since I was flying with one friend, the 2-3 configuration on JetBlue’s Airbus A220 was much more enticing. So, once I saw JetBlue drop its price, I rebooked.

Flight Details

JetBlue Flight 1931
New York (JFK) to Bermuda (BDA)
Seat: 23A (Core/Economy)
Scheduled Duration: 2 hours 21 minutes
Aircraft: Airbus A220 (Wednesday’s We Wear Blue)

Check-In

I booked a standard “Blue” fare ticket, which allowed me to pick a seat. I was travelling with a friend, so we decided to sit on the “2” side of the plane so we wouldn’t need to sit next to a stranger.

At check-in, I noticed that if you wanted a nicer seat, it was $96 for an Even More Space Seat or $18 for a preferred standard seat near the front. I was happy to stay put.

At the Airport & Boarding

The Saturday morning of Labor Day, the TSA PreCheck line wasn’t too bad. Our inbound plane arrived early from Washington, D.C.

Boarding was scheduled 35 minutes before our departure, though in practice it started a bit earlier. Our plane, On Wednesdays We Wear Blue, was just 4 years old.

We got the corner gate 501 that had a nice view of the TWA Hotel and JetBlue sign, which was cool.

The Seat & Flight

The JetBlue Airbus A220 has 140 total seats. 30 of these are designated as “Even More Space” seats situated at rows 1 to 4 and 12 to 13 (exit row).

I was in a standard economy (Core) seat, and these offer a seat width of 18 inches and a pitch of 32 inches. Pretty roomy to me!

Solid legroom!

The 10.1-inch seatback screen was nice. It offers DIRECTV (30 channels), movies, and games. Though shortly after flying over the Atlantic, the DIRECTV didn’t work, but that was fine since there were plenty of movies to choose from.

And, JetBlue does offer free Fly-Fi Wi-Fi, and that did work over the Atlantic.

The pilot let us know that our flight would be 1 hour and 40 minutes. We had some paperwork to finish up, and the doors closed 5 minutes past our scheduled departure. We took off 20 minutes past our scheduled departure.

I did appreciate the fact that they did have USB-A & USB-C and a power outlet.

First, the drink cart came out, then the snacks were next. There were complimentary soft drinks, coffee & juices. Snacks were next, and choices included a Biscoff Cookie, Oats Chocolate Bar, Plantain Chips (my favorite), or Goldfish.

The flight went by quite quickly, and we got to the gate about 10 minutes early, which was nice.

The Verdict

Overall, I had a solid flight on the JetBlue Airbus A220 from New York to Bermuda. Love the 2-3 configuration and the complimentary Wi-Fi and nice in-flight entertainment.
