Review: Fabulous Stays at Hotel Central Roosendaal

a hotel with white sign

Everyone has a hotel where they stay regularly and the Hotel Central in Roosendaal is one of mine. Roosendaal? Where the hell is that? Roosendaal is in the Netherlands, about an hour or so south of Amsterdam Schiphol Airport by train.

Each year, the International ABBA Fan Club hosts it’s annual ABBA Day in Roosendaal and people travel from all over the world to attend. I always stay in Hotel Central and here’s why.

Modern Rooms With A Fun Twist

Grey, brown and white dominate the colour scheme in the rooms which gives a clean and fresh feel. Each room exhorts you to “sleep well” and I always do at Hotel Central.

Rooms contain all the modern conveniences such as a coffee maker, television, free wireless Intenet, a safe, refrigerated mini bar and of course air conditioning and heating. You can take the lift or the stairs or a combination of both, which I did as I had friends on the floor below me. Beds are doubles, some are two singles pushed together or twins.

Functional Bathroom

Some rooms in the hotel feature a bath tub for soaking in. On this occasion I scored a room with a shower which is also completely fine. Water pressure is good which makes me happy!

There are lovely mini products by Rituals available as well as things like shower caps and so on. Showers also have products attached to the wall. Everything is clean and well presented which I like.

Breakfast In Roosendaal

A delicious continental breakfast is available and the selection is excellent. Breakfast is usually included with the room and the rooms come in at a little over €100 per night.

Toast is available by using the toasting machine and two or three different kinds of breads are provided. Cold meats and cheese are also available which is very European!

How About Something Hot?

Feeling like something hot? Never fear, there are hot options also. Boiled eggs, crispy bacon and scrummy sausages await! All of these are quite lovely indeed.

What is also great is the kitchen will make you any kind of eggs to order as well. I had two fried eggs and a friend of mine had some scrambled eggs. When you are seated, you can get orange juice or apple juice and you are offered coffee. The restaurant has a coffee machine and the server will make you anything you like. I had two latte’s and look at this deliciousness! You must try the restaurant for dinner also when you go to Roosendaal. It is always busy and the food is stunning. The server at breakfast was extremely busy but she remembered everything and was quite friendly.

Overall Thoughts

Whenever I meet Dutch people and say I visit this town, they always exclaim “Roosendaal?!” in mock horror. It is a lovely little town with friendly people and great food. Hotel Central fits in perfectly with clean and comfortable rooms and delicious meals.

The location directly across from the train station is brilliant. One thing I really like are the staff. Some of them are the same year on year and they are unfailingly courteous, friendly and welcoming. It is part of the reason I enjoy going back!
