the Aer Lingus A320

Background & Booking

I needed a flight from Dublin to Amsterdam, and Aer Lingus had the best price & schedule, so it was a no-brainer! I decided to book through Capital One Travel to use up my Venture X $300 travel credit.

Flight Details

Aer Lingus Flight 608
Dublin (DUB) to Amsterdam (AMS)
Aircraft: Airbus A320
Seat: 13A Window
Cabins: Economy
Scheduled Duration: 1 hour and 40 minutes

Check-In

Turns out, when booking with a third party, you can’t change your seat after check-in. But I suppose we got lucky! They assigned us seats all together in the exit row (Row 13) immediately after I checked in online, and for some reason, it came with Group 1 Priority Boarding. I’m surprised that they didn’t give us a standard seat instead.

Once at the airport, we visited the Liffey Lounge to grab some snacks and relax for a bit.

We were boarding from the infamous gate 335 at Dublin Airport, so you have to take a shuttle bus to this satellite terminal. So, definitely allow some extra time for that.

Boarding was supposed to commence at 1:15 pm, though the plane didn’t arrive until then, and passengers still needed to disembark.

The Flight

The boarding doors closed 10 minutes past our scheduled departure. Our flight time was scheduled for 1 hour and 40 minutes, and once on board, they let us know the estimated time in the air would be 1 hour and 5 minutes.

The exit rows 12 & 13 came with extra pitch. It is 35″ at rows 12 and 13 versus 29.5″ for the other rows according to AeroLOPA.

Onboard, the cart came by with food items for purchase. Nothing was complimentary, unfortunately. I did like how my last SAS flights included complimentary water & coffee/tea. No Wi-Fi was available on this aircraft.

On the bright side, we arrived at the gate right on time.

The Verdict

Overall, flying on the Aer Lingus A320 was a no-frills experience, but we arrived on time, and I was lucky to get assigned an exit row with extra legroom.
