Reflections on 2014 and Looking Ahead

Looking back on 2014, I’m not sure if time flew because I was having fun or if I’m getting old. Perhaps it was a bit of both, but it sure has passed by in a hurry. Ironically, my travel was down just a tiny bit for the year. This is the first time in recent memory I’ve flown less than 100K miles, and I don’t think I mind. Delta was my primary airline, and Marriott was my most frequented hotel family. Those are likely to remain constant in 2015, even if I am changing my focus on how I spend money in light of changes in the loyalty landscape.

I took three cruises in 2014, a slightly lower number than the year before, but I enjoyed them all – Majesty of the Seas, Disney Fantasy, and of course, Quantum of the Seas. Right now, I only have one cruise booked in 2015, a trans-Atlantic sailing aboard Allure of the Seas, but I just can’t fathom I don’t work something else in when I get a moment. 🙂

Here at the blog, we had an OK year. Traffic is up year over year, and somehow, I managed to post 149 days in a row beginning in July and ending right around Christmas. I’ve only missed 2 days, but my streak is broken. I’ll try to start a new one tomorrow. Can I post every day for 365 days? I’m going to give it a try! One thing is certain, I’m going to start 2015 off with the best give away I’ve done here at MJ on Travel. If you’re an iDevice user that travels at all, tune in on Monday, January 5….that’s all for now. 🙂

Whether reflecting on the year that was, or the year that is about to be, I most of all want to wish you the happiest of New Year’s and thank you for reading!
