Redeem Rapid Rewards for A-List Status (TARGETED)

I was reviewing some week old mail earlier today, and stumbled across a flyer from the Rapid Rewards Visa folks that I almost threw out assuming it was just another promo I’d already registered for. I was wrong.

I opened the flyer to learn that for redeeming a mere 50,000 Rapid Rewards points I could enjoy the benefits of A-List status with Southwest through the end of the year. A-List status benefits include:

  • Priority Boarding
  • Priority Check-in and Security Lane Access
  • 25% Earning Bonus
  • Standby Priority
  • Dedicated A-List Member Phone Line

Things that make me go hmmm. On one hand, I have begun flying Southwest enough to make A-List status useful. On the other, I find 50,000 Rapid Rewards points more useful. Not to mention, since I’m flying Southwest more, with just a bit of focus I will make A-List on my own. I think I’ll sit this one out. Did any other Rapid Rewards Visa cardmembers receive a similar offer?

Got this too in the mail. I don’t find this appealing since 50k points is worth more in trips especially since I have companion pass.i already have pre check with is often faster than elite lines (for example at sjc). The marginal upgrade in boarding order isn’t a deal breaker either since I’m on relatively short flights.
