Did you receive a Qatar Airways travel voucher just for booking?

Who knew an e-mail titled “For Trent, a travel voucher is on the way” would cause instant consternation? It’s definitely a sign of the times and this communication came completely out of the blue.

I am booked to fly with Qatar Airways to Australia in November and the ticket was an excellent deal. Considering the current situation, I thought it might already be cancelled. Happily that is not the case!

Qatar Airways Travel Voucher

Turns out the good people at Qatar Airways are offering people a travel voucher. Anyone who made or makes a booking between 15 February and 31 May 2020 for travel through to 15 December 2020 should get an e-mail about this.

Once you have started your trip, you will receive a voucher for at least US$100 to put towards a future flight with the oneworld alliance carrier. Quite nice if you’re planning to go away again!

According to the web page linked off the e-mail, Qatar Airways Privilege Club members get an even better deal. Platinum members receive US$175 and 12,000 bonus Qmiles, Gold get US$150 and 10,000 miles, Silver US$125 and 8,000 while entry level Burgundy receive US$100 and 6,000 Qmiles.

I’m not a member of the programme, so I’ll just receive the voucher once I fly. You can redeem the voucher anytime through to 15 December 2020 for travel up to the same date.

Overall Thoughts

The Qatar Airways travel voucher is not going to be much use to me. My flight doesn’t depart until the beginning of November and then I return at the end of the month. That gives me three weeks or so to book and travel, which is not going to happen.

That being said, it will be useful for a lot of people and it is a nice gesture from the airline. Clearly it’s to get more people to make bookings between now and the end of May, but you can’t fault them for that.

Did you receive an e-mail from Qatar Airways about this travel voucher? What do you think of the offer? Thank you for reading and if you have any comments or questions, please leave them below.

I had booked for the QA flight for the 9th of June, from their company website .But on 1st of June,i received an email from them stating that the flight on 9th has been cancelled due to the present covid related issues and offered me various options to either request for a refund,or opt for a travel voucher.Having applied for a refund, neither did i get any refund confirmation mail/call nor the call centers picked my call.To crown the issue,i was told that the QA local office at Kochi, was shut down! Next,on the 8th evening i got a mail stating that they… Read more »

I received an e-mailed voucher but can’t work out how to use it with my next booking? It has an individual number on it which must fit somewhere when you book online at the Qatar site but I can’t see where. Can you help?

Hello,
I have the voucher with 157, but when i try to submit voucher its says it should start with 157 … it’s ridiculous because that is what i am writing 157. I called Qatar and they tried to book for me but they say the card is not working in euros and tried in other currency. It was 40 euros more . And the next time i called they say that the voucher usually works. i cannot book with my voucher
