It’s been some year for those of us who enjoy travelling frequently. Being suddenly confined to our home cities is a different experience to normal. Some people have taken this with good humour and created memes to illustrate the struggle.
I’m an optimistic person by nature and I see the whole pandemic as a once off experience that we won’t have again. Without a doubt people in the future will ask, “What was it like living through that?” as they won’t have any frame of reference for it.
My Favourite Meme
There is one meme that I stumbled across that made me laugh out loud. I don’t remember where it came from, and that’s not really all that important. All I could think of as I laughed was, “relatable!”
Will We Travel In 2021?
I’ve already started booking travel again. First up, I decided to take a punt on a trip to the UK in August. Ireland and the UK have a long standing agreement in place called the Common Travel Area, so for travel and work purposes, we are considered one. Travel there results in no quarantine, so I figured it would probably be likely I can actually go.
Overall Thoughts
Everyone loves a good, funny meme and I am sure there are plenty more out there. Hopefully the ones lamenting the fact we cannot travel easily will soon be things of the past.
My hope is that people, once vaccinated, are permitted unrestricted travel. We are still a way away from that, but progress is being made swiftly enough. Even if it is early 2022 before all the ducks are in a row, there is light at the end of the tunnel.

The one you featured is the exact same one I thought of first! Points for creativity!!
Couldn’t agree more! haha!
Being a cat guy, I’ve always liked this one:
Both of my current cats are airborne specialists, god help a flying insect that gets into the house.
I booked two trips this year, only to have to cancel them both for now, one due to erratic schedule changes and one due to something better that came up. But I WILL fly this year, someplace, sometime.
OK, so not really pandemic related. But cats aren’t service animals, which are fine, but emotional support animals HAVE been banned in the US so, kinda…sorta.
All good with me 🙂
Haha – that’s great! Sounds like your cats are very alert for flying things too.
