Chase has been very active lately with their credit cards. And it’s not just the Sapphire Reserve that’s in the limelight. Multiple Chase Cards are offering 5x spend offers to targeted cardholders! This is huge because targeted cardholders can use their Chase card as a 5x card for the first quarter of 2020. All offers expire on March 31, in other words.

Doctor of Credit (H/T) has reported that certain cardholders with the Chase Freedom Unlimited and/or any World of Hyatt, IHG, or Southwest cards might be targeted with a 5% or 5x offer. Chase is sending offers via email, so be sure to check your email today.

Furthermore, Citi recently did a similar promotion for those with the Premier, Prestige, and two other cards. But Chase’s focus is more on co-branded cards than their core cards, especially with the recent revamp of the Sapphire Reserve.

What’s Going On?

Targeted Chase Freedom Unlimited (CFU), World of Hyatt, IHG, or Southwest Airlines cardholders can earn 5x respective points when spending in the following categories:

  • Cable & Internet Services
  • Insurance
  • Phone Services
  • Utilities

It appears that all versions, current and discontinued, of the Hyatt, IHG, and Southwest cards are eligible to receive a targeted offer. There is a $2,000 spend limit between all four categories.

Moreover, these are nice offers if you have a CFU or any of the mentioned co-branded cards, as long as you don’t have a Chase Freedom or Chase Ink Business Cash. Chase chose some interesting categories because they are also the first quarter’s 5x categories for the Chase Freedom Card. Most of these categories earn 5x Ultimate Rewards (UR) points on the Chase Ink Business Cash.

Final Draw

Certain Chase cardholders should check their emails to see if they are targeted for an offer. You can easily earn up to 10,000 respective points with normal spending if targeted. Multiple people have left comments on Doctor of Credit’s post stating that they have been targeted. All offers expire on March 31.

These offers are great for Chase cardholders who do not currently have a Freedom or Ink Business Cash card. Both offer 5x UR points within the targeted categories. However, you can benefit if you are a Freedom or Ink Business Cash cardholder with between $1,500 and $3,500 in category expenses this quarter.

You can also stack offers if you have more than one eligible card and either a Freedom or Ink Business Cash. Being targeted multiple times can let you you choose what type of points you want to earn. The promotion essentially raises the maximum spend threshold and could help you earn multiple types of points.
