Planning on a cruise anytime soon? Like to collect Mileage Plus miles? May as well take a look at the new United Cruises. You can earn up to 10,000 miles for booking a cruise, and up to 10,000 more bonus miles for booking a balcony or suite cabin through March 31, 2010. Better yet, you can earn double miles if you book your cruise with your United Mileage Plus Visa card (registration required, MPF041 is the promotion code).
I’ve never booked a cruise through one of the various airline portals, so I can’t offer any insight on the experience. Mrs MJonTravel and I have a great Virtuoso travel agent that we like, and we book our cruises with her, even the simple ones that we could easily handle ourselves. If you have booked through United Cruises or any other airline mileage site that offers miles for booking cruises, comment and share your experience. Thanks!
Please don’t recommend United Cruises. They are a 3rd party business, NOT an official “United” brand. My cruise was cancelled and they refuse to give me my money back. I’ve spent hours and hours calling, and everyone just says my refund is coming, but it never does.

I had a bad agent. Tried to demand more money after the cruise was paid for. Didn’t answer my emails. Then was kind of snotty when I asked where the miles were after my cruise. The miles just posted to my United Mileage Plus account, 40,000, I would not book through them again even though I got all those miles in the end.
You maybe right about miles but come with package of some NASTY agent to deal with like the one i spoke 60 minutes ago she was ULYTRA NASTY that at the ensd she told me to close the phone first otherwise we will have open line all day INCREDIBLE only on UNITED CRUISE and i did i was listening her typing for good 30 minutes before she close the line
Thanks for your help. In response to my email query, United MileagePlus posted all of the miles in question. That’s about the quickest & best response I’ve ever seen from an airline mileage program. Salut!
Good news! Wouldn’t surprise me if your miles weren’t caught up in one of their various IT glitches.
Thanks, the cruise was in December. Maybe it’s too soon? I’m not on Twitter but I’ll try their number again. Last time I phoned the agent said they didn’t handle mileage claims; they’re just reservations agents.
Last time I did an airline portal it was about 3 weeks after the cruise before the miles posted.
I would contact United MileagePlus via email and see what they say.
I booked and paid for a cruise in November through the United Cruises portal, paid immediately, and am still waiting for the promised miles. ” Card Member: +2 award miles per $1 Card Member Balcony & Suite:+2 award miles per $1 Earn 2 award miles per $1 Balcony & Suite: +2 award miles per $1″ We took a suite too… United has provision for claiming miles from hotel & transportation partners with the exception of its own cruise portal. The time spent trying to get the miles credited is worth more than the value of the miles. I suspect they… Read more »
Was your cruise in November 2012? If so, yes, you should have gotten mileage credit by now. I don’t know who you’ve reached out to for credit yet, but if you haven’t done so, try their twitter channel, then their regular customer service here. Also, did you try calling United Cruises at 800-211-2039?
