Marriott San Jose hotel near the Convention Center

This Marriott San Jose hotel is directly connected to the Convention Center so it is your first choice if you are attending an event there.

San Jose is part of the software ‘hub’ and there are a lot of software companies in and around the city providing fodder for the convention center.

The reception areas:

The hotel is on a corner and has a small drive in area to leave your car for valet. It is better to get an Uber on the street rather than asking the driver to turn into the small entrance parking.

The valet parking rates are high much like bigger cities. You can pay up to $80 a night for a full sized truck like an F-150.

The nice sized lobby with bright patterns and video displays. The bar is on the left, restaurant on the right and reception on the far right.

Here is the reception area, reasonably efficient with interesting patterns.

The MClub:

As a Platinum Elite member I was given access to the MClub. As you can see breakfast is available from 6:30 till 9 every day. The other afternoon and evening delights are only from Sunday to Thursday, specifically hors d’oeuvres from 5:30 till 7:30, desserts from 7:30 till 11, and bar service from 5:30 till 11.

Weird that on Fridays and Saturdays it is only available in the morning and then not at all for the rest of the day.

Here are some pics of the breakfast options in the morning. Fruit, yoghurt, some hot food, pastries, juice and toasted breads.

These were some desserts that were available late one evening when we popped in. Nice cheesecake and a chocolate mousse cake.

Some nice fruit and snacks were available this evening.

Other areas of the hotel:

This is the bar in the lobby. It doesn’t look very big but with tables and bar counter it was sufficient.

Here is the walkway from the hotel through to the convention center which passes the shop that is useful for drinks, snacks and mementos as well as the Starbucks.

There is a good sized fitness center available.

I also found the room with washers, dryers and microwaves for your convenience.

This vending machine was outside the gym. It contains a better variety of items than most other vending machines I have seen. Water, juice, milk, snacks, chips and food items.

And here is the pool which is nice and clean with good seating.

Conclusion:

This hotel was very nice to stay in. Close to the convention center with useful facilities as well as being close to shops in town.

Highly recommended if you are in town for a convention.
