In Milan today, Marriott International opened its first, stylish-but-affordable Moxy hotel within walking distance to Malpensa airport’s Terminal 2. Rates advertised on its website start at 75 euros, or about $98.
Moxy is Marriott’s answer to the category of less-expensive business-travel hotels with an edgy, Millennial focus. Also in this category: Smaller, independent brands such as citizenM (Amsterdam Schipol) and Yotel (London Heathrow, Terminal 4). Hilton Worldwide is working on what sounds like a similar concept; Hilton’s using the term “accessible lifestyle” to describe its forthcoming brand. Starwood’s trendy Aloft chain has similar traits, though is priced higher.
Moxy’s website, meanwhile, likens the concept to a boutique hotel, “only at an affordable price.”

Expect a full-service bar in a living room area, free Wi-Fi, laundry facilities and an area to buy snacks 24 hours – all with an emphasis on design.
Expect to see Moxy locations at other European airports such as Munich next spring, according to Marriott’s press release.
