What are the Freddie Awards?

Each year, frequent flyers from around the world vote on the best frequent flyer programs, traveler credit cards, and loyalty programs.  The Freddie Awards are named in honor of Sir Frederick Alfred Laker, aka Sir Freddie Laker.  Sir Laker was knighted by Queen Elizabeth in 1978 in recognition of his contributions to commercial aviation, specifically in the field of marketing.

To honor Sir Freddie Laker, InsideFlyer and BoardingArea founder Randy Petersen introduced the annual Freddie Awards.  As previously noted, travelers vote on loyalty programs and traveler credit cards.  The programs that received the most votes are awarded each year at the Freddie Awards ceremony.
