First time flying on Delta from DFW to Atlanta

I fly out of DFW a lot and almost always fly on American Airlines, nationally and internationally.

I had miles that I had received from applying for a credit card so I booked to fly Delta to Atlanta and then on to Johannesburg. This is the very first time I have flown Delta from DFW so I took the opportunity to compare it to American.

Boarding:

There was a little delay at the gate. I took note of the interesting information provided on the screen.

a screen with a time and date on it

Very interesting details about seats that are still available on the flight.

Information on different category seats is unique. I had not seen that before.

This sign was at the top of the jet bridge after checking my boarding pass. And then there was the A321 for the flight

This informative sign was on the side of the aircraft as we boarded. It listed 17 different awards Delta received in 2024 for service and flights.

On board:

The first big difference is that all seats have tv’s available. I have hardly ever had a tv on an American domestic flight.

Here is the safety card that is provided for this A321.

The emergency exiting information will be standard in all Airbus 321 aircraft.

Delta advertises their wi-fi availability. They advertise Paramount+ for movies and tv shows, New York Times games, Resy dinner reservations, groceries with Walmart+, and using Atlas Obscura for local information. T-Mobile and American Express are also prominent.

I asked for hot tea as always and it came with a bag of Cheez-its.

The details on the top of the screen about the progress of the flight and then the arrival in Atlanta were useful.

I saw this old sign while we were taxiing from runway 26L/8R to the terminal.

This was the welcome on the jet bridge from the plane.

Conclusion:

It was a really nice flight. Being in economy wasn’t half bad with the tv available and not having to haul out my laptop and connect to in-flight wi-fi.

The information about seating shown before boarding at DFW was also very useful. I would like to see other airlines doing something similar.

A rather pleasant experience was had by me.
