This is a first… ExpertFlyer is completely misaligned with Air Canada. We have noticed problems with ExpertFlyer for quite a while. Not too long ago, the seatmap functionality did not work for many days. We were told that the error has been automatically reported. However, ExpertFlyer did not appear to do anything to fix the bug for a very long time. Eventually ExpertFlyer did resolve the issue but it definitely left a sour taste in my mind.
After this incident, I downgraded my subscription to a monthly subscription. I no longer have the confidence on the product offered by ExpertFlyer. Today’s example, is a perfect example of why I continue to doubt the longevity of the software.
Wrong Flight Departure Time
I first noticed this error a month ago, but convinced myself that I am the problem. While searching for flights from Toronto to Quebec City on 28 March 2025, it showed me five departures ranging from 7.40am to 10.50pm departures, as shown below.
I am going to focus on AC 1956, which is operated by Air Canada Rouge. On ExpertFlyer, the flight shows a departure time of 5.05pm and it will be operated by an Airbus 321.
If I search for the same flight on Air Canada, I get a very different picture. The flight is shown to depart at 5.45pm and operated by an A320.
For the longest time, I always assumed I was searching incorrectly on ExpertFlyer. I later realized, that it was ExpertFlyer giving incorrect information. The availability is aligned with what I am observing on Air Canada, so my only conclusion is, it seems like they might be returning cached results.
C0nclusion
I am hoping this is an isolated error, however, I find it very concerning that ExpertFlyer is reporting a flight, that is clearly misaligned with Air Canada. This should be reported, however, based on our previous experience, it is clear that the owners of ExpertFlyer could not care less about this service.
