I enjoyed a week at the Westin Hotel, Indianapolis. When I arrived I was greeted with this Indycar in the lobby. It has the logo for the bar/restaurant that is in the hotel and also goes with the theme of the city.
On arriving at the airport this dragster was in the atrium as we walked out so I guess speed is a theme in the city. Of course, with the basketball court and the football field also in downtown Indianapolis the city has a great sporting pedigree.

The hotel:
Reception had 3 desks but there was no separate section for priority account holders.
Here is the waiting area in the lobby. a really pleasant space.
Parkin g is on the expensive side, $60 for valet, $45 for self park !
This was the waiting area outside the lift on my floor.
Here is the gym. Impressive size and a large variety of equipment.
There is a FedEx office in the hotel which is very useful if you have any postage and packaging needs.
This is the WestinClub which is only for Platinum, Titanium and Ambassador level. I believe it is like other priority clubs at other hotels. I was not able to use it as I am still just a few nights off of Platinum.
The Ten Hands restaurant / bar referred by the racing car in the lobby. Seems pleasant, always has a good stream of customers.
This was one of the nicer in hotel stores I have come across. A full coffee house as well as a pizza place, on top of the regular store items like drinks and snacks made for a very useful store.
My room:
My normal choice of 2 beds rather than a large king size.
The center console only had one strip of plug points.
A basic coffee machine and then below that is the ice bucket, bottle of complimentary water and the cupboard with iron, ironing board and hangars.
This is the layout of the tv cabinet, containing coffee machine, ice bucket, refrigerator, tv, with chair and table.
Nice hangar for hanging coats and other items.
The bathroom:
Very nice big bathroom counter. Not much on the counter. It is always appreciated to have nice glasses.
Nice rain shower head and a small wand for all over spraying.
The toiletries were White Tea with aloe extract by Heavenly by Westin.
Near the hotel:
As I said earlier the basketball stadium for the Indiana Pacers and the women’s basketball team the Indiana Fever is within 10 minutes of the hotel and the football stadium for the Indianapolis Colts is about 15 minutes walk.
The town hall is to the left of the hotel as you leave. There is a statue of George Washington outside, and there was a statue of Christopher Columbus but it has been removed and only the plinth survives.
I think it is wrong to try and remove parts of your history. You can never use modern morals to judge people from 100 or 200 or 300 years ago.
Here is the wall outside the stadium showing you the fixtures for the season. a nice touch.
There are many stores and restaurants in the area of the ArtsGarden, it is a great way to keep people coming down town.
Conclusion:
This was a rather pleasant stay in Indianapolis. This was my first visit so Indiana became my 37th state. (Next week in Delaware for my 38th.)
The hotel is really nice. The hotel store is very useful, the restaurant is great and downtown is 5 minutes walk so everything is available.
A great visit which I would recommend even if you are not a sports fan
