Review: easyJet from Birmingham to Glasgow on the A320neo

Twenty pounds! That is all easyJet were asking for their Saturday flight from Birmingham to Glasgow. A friend had invited me up to Glasgow for a party and I decided to go via Birmingham, as I am currently busily accruing status with Aer Lingus.

Another friend invited to the party lives in Birmingham so we decided to travel together. The only other fee we paid was about another six or so pounds to select seats together. He chose an aisle and I chose the window, in the hopes that the middle would remain free.

Birmingham Airport

After arriving at BHX, I proceeded to the security screening area as there are no flight transfer routes. A massive queue was snaking for what seemed like miles back and forth through the airport when I joined the end of it, and I was not happy.

Much to my surprise, it moved at an extremely rapid pace and I was probably through security in around 15 minutes. From there I met up with my friend and we camped out in the Clubrooms by No. 1 Lounges until flight time.

Time to Go!

Since the whole aircraft is economy class, there was no reason to hurry on board. We joined the line towards the end and boarded via the rear steps. I had already done a dummy booking a week or so before and noticed someone had the middle seat, so I was prepared when I found someone sat there.

When I arrived, the guy looked up and I said, “do you want to take the window?” and he scooched over without a moments thought. See, nobody likes the middle seat!

An easyJet flight to Glasgow

The flight was fairly full, but not completely. A couple of lads decided to move to some empty seats before take-off and had I seen them first I would have done the same. Anyway, we had the safety demonstration and took to the sky quickly enough.

On board the crew come around offering snacks and drinks. For a change I decided I was fine and did not partake in the goodies on offer from the menu. The seats were comfortable and the ambiance crammed in to the aircraft was fine. Eventually we landed on time without incident.

Overall Thoughts

I hadn’t flown easyJet since 2020 and it was just as convenient as usual. Even a week before departure the fares on this route had only gone up to something like 35 pounds, so nobody paid a lot of money for their flight.

easyJet are quite big in Europe, but funnily enough don’t fly to the Republic of Ireland, otherwise I would fly them more often. A lot of people consider them the nicer version of Ryanair, as they operate in a similar fashion.

What do you think of easyJet? Do you fly them at all? Thank you for reading and if you have any comments or questions, please leave them below.
