Yesterday I received an email from World of Hyatt regarding my Hyatt Credit Card that stated:
This season, the holiday shopping you do for others, plus your everyday spend, can mean an exclusive gift for you – a free night at an unforgettable category 1-4 hotel. That’s on top of the free night you receive on your cardmember anniversary. Use your Hyatt Credit Card from October 27 through December 31, 2020, and enjoy a free night after spending $4,000. Register by November 30, 2020.
I think receiving a free night certificate after spending $4,000 on an existing credit card is a nice offer. It looks like the offer is only for the Legacy Hyatt Credit Card- you can register/check out the terms and conditions here! Based on Hyatt’s COVID-19 FAQ’s, the certificate should be valid until at least December 31, 2021. I haven’t done any travelling since February, hopefully if I take advantage of this offer, I can use it for a getaway later in 2021.
Hypothetically, if you were to redeem the certificate at a Category 4 property that normally goes for 15,000 points per night, that’s like earning an extra 3.75 bonus points per dollar on top of the (3x Hyatt, 2x dining/air/car rentals and 1x everything else).
Back in 2019, I used a Hyatt Category 1-4 certificate at the Grand Hyatt Taipei for new years and loved my stay. Great values too at the time since rates were $600 a night.
Amazon 5x/3x Grocery Offer:
To make the deal even better, it seems that there is a promotion on Amazon and Grocery Stores on Chase co-branded credit cards. You can check here if you are eligible and register.
I can earn 5x Hyatt points for every $1 spent at Amazon and 3x Hyatt Points for every $1 spent at grocery stores on up to $1,500 of purchases each month from November 1st through December 31st with my Hyatt Credit Card. Another great offer to work with the Hyatt free night offer too.
The Verdict:
It is a tempting offer for me to add some spend on my legacy Hyatt Credit Card. But, I’m working on completing spend on my Chase Sapphire Preferred currently. I may be inclined to give this one a go too. Hopefully I will have some nice places to use the certificate in 2021. What are your thoughts on this offer?
Best,
Ty
