Curing Post Cruise Depression (PCD)

For the frequent floaters among us, there is a condition we all know and loathe….. we call it PCD or Post Cruise Depression. It usually sets in around 7am on the morning you return to work following a cruise vacation. The symptoms are an overwhelming sense of dread regarding the job that allows you to pay for your cruises, a temptation to call in sick or take a mental health day from the office, and the most pronounced symptom of all – furiously reading live posts on Cruise Critic or blog posts from other frequent floaters who are currently enjoying their cruises.

After 10+ years of frequent floating I have come to know this condition called PCD. I think it was actually worse in the early years. One could be tempted to say that I have just become accustomed to it after so many cruises. There could be a bit of truth to that, but I think the more I have cruised, the more I look forward to my next cruise no matter the ship or the itinerary. On the other hand, years of frequent floating have taught me that it is always best to have another cruise booked to help control PCD. The only sure-bet cure for PCD is this…..

  2. So true, so true…

Great timing for me. I am reading this at work after a wonderful 7 day cruise on Holland America.

  3. Yes I know the feeling.
I usually find myself on vacationstogo scanning for some exotic 93 day cruise that I would never have the time to go on. Besides I’m not sure I could afford the daily gratuities or liquor bill 🙂
