They’re serving trout as part of the Club Europe meal on British Airways and it’s good!

I always enjoy the British Airways Club Europe meal when flying across to London. You never know what you might get up there in business class, as the food tends to follow current trends, to one extent or another. Let’s have a look at how my flight was from Dublin to London.

On arrival at Dublin airport, I proceeded through fast-track security and into the very busy lounge. After spending some time there, it was down to the gate for me, to wait for boarding. People were invited to check their cabin bags for free if they wished, and several passengers elected to do just that. Once boarding was announced, it was outside and up the stairs into our aircraft.

Embraer 190 – G-LCYM
Seat: Club Europe 1A
Departure: 11:05 Arrival: 12:45

Usually I would choose seat 2D on the Embraer 190, as it has oodles of leg room, but someone beat me to the punch this time. You can see all of that space here, in some cabin shots I took a few years back.

Seat 1A

There is nothing at all wrong with 1A, even if there is less room here. As you can see, I was able to stretch out pretty much fully, so I still found it very comfortable. The E190 has small overhead bins, so they do tend to fill up quickly. Early boarding is a must!

Once everyone was on the plane, we had the usual safety demonstration and headed off into the sky. After a looping right turn to get us facing the opposite direction, we were on our way to London.

Club Europe Meal

There were two options for our Club Europe meal and I took the Spinach and Mushroom Quiche, Prosciutto, Smoked Trout and Egg Mayo. It sounded more fun than the other option, which were Vegetarian finger sandwiches. Naturally I elected to wash it down with Champagne.

The Smoked Trout was a bit of a surprise, as the crew had only described it as a Spinach and Mushroom Quiche. All the rest was interesting and certainly very tasty. Once done, I had another Champagne or two and then we landed into London City, the most convenient airport to where I was headed.

Overall Thoughts

I like how you get a Club Europe meal on even a short flight such as that from Dublin to London City. It’s one of the reasons I keep paying the extra to sit up front, as I enjoy the food and drinks.
