Emirates is one of the more well known airline brands in the world and for good reason. They offer global connectivity and of course their A380 first class features a shower, allowing passengers the abiliy to hose themselves off during flight.
That is unique among airlines and remains a bucket list experience for many. While their business class bar is, from all reports, perfectly great, the shower is the real stand out.
Can You Get Emirates A380 First Class Cheaply?
Pricing is always relative and one person’s cheap may be borderline extortion to someone else. From Monday, 27 March 2023, Emirates are returning to daily flights between Sydney, Australia and Christchurch, New Zealand. That’s a nice short three hour hop across the Tasman Sea for you to enjoy the delights of A380 first class.
Return flights at the pointy end are coming in at AU$2,992, which is €1,945, US$2,007 or £1,680. You can also just buy a straight one way for AU$1,532 for that once in a lifetime shower. By comparison, business class comes in at AU$1,681 return, so flying first class is almost double.
Of course, the most cost effective way is to use frequent flyer points. Qantas frequent flyers can spend 64,500 points on Emirates first class, which is very good value indeed. You can then fly back in economy to really pay as little as possible.
Overall Thoughts
Yes, it’s still a hefty chunk of change, but compare it to flying from London to Dubai and back in First Class. That is £7,140, or AU$12,706, US$8,525 or €8,260. The flight from Sydney to Christchurch is pretty much one quarter of the price, which makes it a bargain by comparison.
I’ve personally never flown with the Dubai based airline, as they are not part of my frequent flyer alliance. I would try this though, as nobody else offers a shower when flying and I’d really like to have done it.
Would you pay a couple of thousand Aussie dollars to fly Emirates A380 first class across the Tasman Sea? Have you tried the shower before maybe? Is it worth it? Thank you for reading and if you have any comments or questions, please leave them below.

Shower by One Mile At A Time.
That’s not a bad use of miles, particularly if you avoid the dreaded YQ that Emirates charges on ULH flights.
Yes, if you can avoid that on any airline, you’re winning!
