After Chase refreshed the Chase Sapphire Preferred card, one of the new benefits that they added was the $50 Chase hotel credit. As someone who has carried the Chase Sapphire Preferred card in his wallet for many years, this has been a great new additional benefit to the card. Moreover, Chase has kept the annual fee at $95 in spite of adding new benefits.

Chase Hotel Credit Guide

In addition to the $50 credit, the Chase Sapphire Preferred card also offers amazing return on day to day spend in select categories.

  • 5x points on travel booked via Chase Ultimate Rewards travel website
  • 3x points on streaming services, select online grocery purchases and on dining/takeout/food delivery services
  • 2x points on all other travel purchases
  • 1x point on all other purchases

As of now, the Chase Sapphire Preferred card is offering a welcome bonus of 60,000 Ultimate Rewards points after you spend $4,000 in the first 3 months of card membership. If you simply redeem the points via Chase’s portal, you’ll get a minimum value of $750.

Last week, I renewed my Chase Sapphire Preferred card for another year after paying the annual fee. Right away, I decide to use the $50 Chase hotel credit benefit. Right after the credit posted, I thought it would be timely and prudent to publish a guide for readers about how this benefit works.

How long does it take for the credit to post?

In my experience, I’ve seen the credit post the next business day, but it may take up to 2-3 days at most.

The Pundit’s Mantra

Overall, I think that this is a fantastic additional benefit with the Chase Sapphire card. Moreover, you can also earn Chase Ultimate Rewards points on daily purchases. I use my Chase Sapphire Preferred card as the go to card for dining out and travel.

  1. It’s weak at best. I usually find better rates outside of that OTA site and even then it’s a pain. It should be automatic like the CSR travel credit.

    1. That’s odd. I’ve found it pretty easy to use the credit and the rates have largely been okay. Could just be that they vary a lot based on where you’re looking for hotels.
