Chris from The Points Guy (H/T) has reported that Chase and Apple are offering promotional redemption options. These redemption options are available for all core Chase Ultimate Rewards (UR) point-earning credit cards. UR points may be redeemed for Apple products from October 15, 2020 to November 15, 2020. This month-long promotion is nice for those who want to acquire new Apple products for holiday gifts. It can also serve as a viable alternative to holiday travel because of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Furthermore, this limited time offer is only available in the Ultimate Rewards Apple tab. This tab can be found in your online Chase account or on the Chase mobile app.
What’s Going On?
The redemption options that are available to you depends on which credit card(s) you have.
Sapphire Reserve
The Chase Sapphire Reserve is the best credit card to use if you want to redeem for eligible Apple products. UR Points are worth 1.5 cents apiece (CPP) when redeeming for Apple products. That is 50% more value than redeeming for cash back or gift cards. Plus, 1.5 CPP is the same rate as the Chase Travel Portal and the Pay Yourself Back method.
Mid-Tier Cards
Furthermore, UR Points are worth 1.25 CPP if you choose to redeem for eligible Apple products with any of Chase’s mid-tier travel cards. That’s 25% more than redeeming for cash back or gift cards. It’s also the same rate as the Chase Travel Portal and the Pay Yourself Back method.
The Sapphire Preferred, Ink Business Preferred, and the discontinued Ink Business Plus are eligible for this 25% bump in value.
No Annual Fee Cards
Unfortunately, Chase’s no annual fee credit cards have received the short end of the stick with this promotion. UR Points are worth 1.2 CPP when redeemed for Apple AirPods. However, UR Points worth just 1.05 CPP when redeeming for all other Apple products.
The Chase Freedom Unlimited, Freedom Flex, Ink Business Cash, and Ink Business Unlimited are eligible for this promotion. Plus, the discontinued no annual fee Chase Sapphire Card and classic Chase Freedom Card are also included.
Final Draw
Chase and Apple are offering promotional redemption options for the next month. But how much value you can receive depends on which card(s) you have. The higher your card’s annual fee, the more value you can receive with this promotion. Moreover, this same logic applies for most credit card redemptions aside from transfer partners.
Nonetheless, the most valuable redemption method for UR points is still transferring to one of Chase’s transfer partners. But travel might not be safe because of the COVID-19 pandemic.
