35% Off Purchases of 5,000 or More Starpoints, The Fine Print

Luckily, this promotion is very straightforward. As long as you purchase 5,000 or more Starpoints, you get the 35% discount applied to your purchase. A few things to note however is that Starwood Hotels only allows you to purchase 30,000 points in a calendar year. Of course, points purchased don’t count towards Starwood Preferred Guest elite status. Finally, your account must be 14 days old to purchase miles. Again, very straightforward.

During this promotion, Starpoints are available for less than $0.023 per point. During non-promotional periods, Starpoints will run you $0.035 per point.

What You Can Do With 30,000 Starpoints

Your best bet when using Starpoints is to redeem for free nights. With Starwood free nights, there are no blackout dates and when you redeem four nights with points, you get the fifth night free. Redemptions start at just 3,000 Starpoints, however, properties and nights at the entry price are limited.

Consult Starwood’s official redemption chart for a full list of redemption rates by property category. You can access that here.

I’m going to do my best to take advantage of this promo. I’ve been using my points like crazy lately and this sale is the perfect opportunity to replenish my account balance.

Will you be taking advantage of this promo?
