You can buy British Airways Avios right now with a 40% bonus, but should you?

There is currently a sale on for those who might want to buy British Airways Avios. This runs through to 23:59 (GMT) on Monday 13 March 2023, so you have a few days to make some decisions.

The bonus is currently 40%, which is okay, though not as good as the Aer Lingus Avios sale that ended just a few days ago. They were offering 45% bonus Avios. We have also seen 50% bonuses in the past, so 40% is not the best ever.

Buy British Airways Avios

Each year, members of the Executive Club can purchase up to 200,000 Avios. I’ve always pooh-poohed this, as I prefer to earn through flying for the most part and it’s never made sense to me to pay.

Right now thought, business class airline tickets are very expensive as airlines capitalise on pent up demand after the pandemic. It actually makes sense to buy miles and redeem them for flights. The total outlay can be quite a lot less than the current airfares.

Overall Thoughts

You can go ahead and buy British Airways Avios here if you want some. It all depends on your travel plans for the future and whether there is reward flight availability for what you want.

In my case I have been booking quite far into the future where availability is very good. Hopefully we will see some more of these bonus Avios sales pop up, they always tend to.

Do you purchase Avios to save money on flights, or do you prefer to earn them from flying and credit cards? Thank you for reading and if you have any comments or questions, please leave them below.
