Frequent flyers save up their points or miles for ages, usually with a goal in mind. That is usually a reward flight, where you simply exchange your hard earned points for a free flight.

Of course, it’s not free, as there are always taxes and charges to pay, but it’s certainly cheaper than paying in full. Thing is, it’s usually not particularly easy to find flights for when you want to go. Sure, you can look up the dates you want, but what if you’re flexible? That’s a lot of searching.

Reward Flight Search Made Easy

There is a website called Reward Flight Finder which members of the British Airways Executive Club can use. This is an easy way to search for Avios availability relatively quickly.

You simply enter in your origin and destination, and it spits out all the availability straight away. It will show you all classes and all dates. For example, putting in London to Seattle shows this.

Each of the four classes has a colour and it displays them by day on the calendar. All you need to do then is to toddle along to the British Airways website and book your reward flight.

There Are More Features

Just say you’re wanting to fly on a particular date, but there is no availability in the class you want. The site lets you setup alerts and they will notify you if and when a seat becomes available. It takes the hassle out of having to check regularly – a true time saver.

You get to have two free alerts and if you want more, you need to pay a nominal monthly fee. This is £2.99 per month for a Silver membership, giving you up to five active alerts, or you can go for Gold, which is currently on sale for £4.99 per month.

The frequency they check increases the higher you go. I’d say for most the hourly alert with Silver is fine, but it really depends on how hardcore a frequent flyer you are.

Overall Thoughts

Booking a reward flight need no longer be a nail biting process. British Airways frequent flyers are lucky to have this service available and I personally find it quite handy. It’s nice to have an e-mail lob into your mailbox saying a seat is now available.

You can go to the Reward Flight Finder website here and check it out. I think it’s a useful resource, especially for those who are Avios rich and are looking to use some of their accumulated points.
