Background and Location
For a quick Labor Day weekend getaway, I decided to visit Bermuda for the first time with a friend. The flight was only a little over two hours, and I flew JetBlue to Bermuda and then BermudAir back to New York. I love how it’s only a little over 2 hours and you’re in paradise!
The Fairmont Hamilton Princess is situated in a convenient location, right in the heart of Hamilton, the capital of Bermuda. It overlooks Hamilton Harbor and is a short 10-minute stroll from downtown shops, restaurants, and cultural spots. While it is not beachfront, there is a complimentary jitney that will take you to the private beach club in about 20 minutes. Locals refer to the hotel as “The Pink Palace”, and the Hamilton Princess Hotel & Beach Club opened its grand doors on January 1, 1885. From the moment it opened, the property was considered the gem of the island of Bermuda.
We actually took the bus from the airport to the hotel, which was an interesting experience as it was crowded and we couldn’t find a seat. Since it was a short weekend trip, we didn’t have much packed and managed, but used Hitch (a rideshare app) to take us back to the airport.

Takeoff Points for the Fairmont Hamilton Princess
Date of Stay: August 2025
Pros: Lovely appointed renovated rooms, great pools & solid beach club.
Cons: Limited shuttles to Beach Club, No Pink Tennis Balls
Takeoff Point: The Fairmont Hamilton Princess is a perfect island getaway with stellar pools, a beach club, and accommodations.
Arrival and Lobby
The property features a grand historic lobby with high ceilings. To the left is Crown & Anchor, the restaurant, and to the right is the reception.

We were quickly checked in by a friendly associate, and then we were off to our room! There is an array of resort shops from the reception to our room in the Bermudiana Wing, and I also really enjoyed the Lego replica of the resort.

The Room: Fairmont Luxury 2 Double (Bermudiana Wing)
Our room was one of the newly renovated rooms in the Bermudiana Wing, which is a great location as it is a short walk from the Infinity pool. Our room was located on the top (2nd floor) & the room is 325 square feet.
As you entered the room, there was a closet with a safe, an ironing/board, and a steamer. Two robes were also provided.

Then, there is the Nespresso Maker, a hot water kettle, and teabags/capsules provided. There is also a mini fridge for personal use.
Two double beds were featured, accompanied by a newly updated nightstand with power ports and both USB-A and USB-C ports on each side, which was a nice touch. A combination alarm clock and Bluetooth speaker was in the middle.
There was a table with two chairs next to the balcony.
The balcony was nice and featured two chairs and a table. We had a view of the infinity pool and Pitts Bay in the background.

The TV also had a small shelf underneath for storage, as well as the phone and notepad, and pen.
Bathroom
The bathroom was nicely appointed, with a large vanity and Le Labo toiletries, which I love. A vanity kit was also provided with cotton balls/q-tips.

The shower was great, with both a wand and a waterfall function. And the water pressure was perfect.

Overall, I really liked the newly renovated Luxury Room and found it to be quite comfortable.
Dining
The Fairmont Hamilton Princess features plenty of dining options. Crown & Anchor in the main lobby offers traditional North American and island cuisine. It is open for breakfast, Sunday brunch, lunch, dinner, as well as afternoon tea. There is also the main lobby bar here. Additionally, Intrepid Steak Seafood & Raw Bar is the property’s flagship restaurant and serves dinner daily.

1609 is located by the Marina, offering bold island-to-Latin flavours. It is open for lunch and dinner. The views are stellar, and we had a nice lunch here.

Dutchess Cafe & Gelateria is located in the lobby and offers breakfast & grab-and-go.
The Marina Bar next to 1609 is also open seasonally, and they had a pop-up Smashburger cart one night, which was nice.

Amenities
The EXHALE Spa offers spa services from 10 am to 7 pm.
The fitness center is open 24 hours and is quite large and has a variety of equipment, including Pelotons. Too bad I didn’t have time for a workout this trip.

There are two main pools, the Infinity Pool & the Exhale Pool (adults only). The pools are open daily from 7 am to 10 pm. Pool and cabana service from the 1609 restaurant is provided from 11 am to 6 pm.

Princess Beach Club
I loved the Princess Beach Club! You hop on a cute vintage-looking jitney shuttle that is remodeled inside at the front driveway, and you’ll be at a private beach club in about 20 minutes. Beach cabanas are available from 10 am to 6 pm, while the Tennis & Pickleball courts are available from 10 am to 5 pm daily.

The beach club offers a lot to explore, from a nice beach with food/drink service, a restaurant, tennis courts, as well as smaller, more private beach spots, and rock pools. Chairs and umbrellas are plentiful. Some complimentary beach equipment was available, from kayaks to paddleboards. I took out a paddleboard to the end of the cove area, and that was nice.

I was just disappointed by the pink tennis court, as they are advertised online to have the cool pink tennis balls, but when we arrived for our session, none were to be found!

We had lunch at the Beach Club, and food and beverage service is available from 11 am to 5 pm daily. There is also beachside service, where they will deliver to your beach chair. On Fridays and Saturday’s they also have a BBQ dinner from 6:30 pm to 10 pm.
I do wish that there was more frequent jitney service, as during our stay, the schedule was:
- Depart Hotel- 9:30 am, 10:30 am, 12 pm, 2:15 pm, 3:45 pm
- Depart Beach- 11:15 am, 1:30 pm, 3:00 pm, 4:30 pm, 6:00 pm
- Extra Dinner Services (Friday & Saturday)- Depart Hotel- 6:30 pm & 7:30 pm, Depart Beach- 8:30 pm & 10 pm
The Verdict
Overall, I had a nice weekend stay at the Fairmont Hamilton Princess. I loved the pools onsite, the newly renovated room & the private beach club.
