Air France will be serving Atlanta, Georgia with the Airbus A380 from March 2019. This will replace one of the existing two daily services operated with the Boeing 777.

Once the service starts, it will mean the French carrier will serve five destinations in the USA with the A380. In addition to Atlanta, New York JFK, Washington DC, San Francisco and Los Angeles also feature the aircraft.

Hello La Première!

First class at Air France is called La Première, which will now be available on the Paris to Atlanta route. There are nine of these suites available on board.

As one of the most chic first class cabin’s in the sky, La Première features great design, curtains to close off your suite for privacy, a soft mattress pad, plush bedding and an amazing lounge experience. You also get Krug Champagne and Caviar, so I’m sold!

Atlanta Schedule

The morning service from Paris Charles de Gaulle – AF682 – will continue to be a Boeing 777. It departs at 10:50 and arrives in Atlanta at 14:15. It then returns as AF681, departing at 17:15 and arriving back in Paris at 07:40 the next morning.

For those wanting to fly the Airbus A380, it is the afternoon service you want. AF688 departs Paris at 13:50 and arrives in Georgia at 17:15. Heading back to Europe, the flight departs at 20:15, arriving at 10:40 the following day.

Overall Thoughts

Cashed up passengers will be delighted to have the option of flying La Première, while the airline will be happy with the extra capacity on the route. It is good to see the opening of another route for the aircraft.

  1. Award tickets or cheap paid economy tickets are my interest on this route. A pity AF doesn’t offer first class to non elites on awards.

    1. That’s a real shame, the awards really should be available to anyone. I guess it makes a case for trying to get to the elite level that opens it up though. Thanks for the comment, that was new information to me.

  2. Has AF redone their 380 First? I flew SFO-CDG two weeks ago with the old configuration. Great service but lousy cabin. Please verify these 9 suites ? Facts

I would rather fly AF Biz than the old Le Premier seating. In fact AF Biz is superior to most others other than ME3

    1. According to the other comments below, no. It’s still the old configuration. I’m sure it can’t be that lousy considering it’s first class 🙂

  3. There are 9 La Premiere / First seat on the A380 but unfortunately they dont look anything like the amazing 777-3 ones like you have the picture showing. Its much inferior although the catering and drink are just as good.

      1. Same for the business class cabin where the 777-3 has a far superior seat while the 380 has the older, very dated “angled” seats. Anyone on this CDG–ATL-CDG route will want the 777-3 if flying a premium cabin.

        1. The flights to ATL on the 777 only have business and economy, so good to know the business class is superior on it. I wonder when Air France are going to upgrade their A380s. Qantas are doing theirs at the moment, so it must be on the cards as they’d be a similar enough age. Thanks for that!

        2. All the ATL flights have the old cabin, 777 or 380. I just booked a flight, and tried very hard to stay on Delta metal for the ATL-CDG connection to have Delta One for biz class. Much better option. Connections on flight would have been too tight. So, it will be the 380, but the weakest biz class of a major carrier.

          1. Yes, you have to be careful sometimes with regards to what you choose. It’s why I always pay attention to codeshares when I am booking tickets. You can sometimes end up on a better product. Enjoy your trip!
