Amex is constantly looking to refresh its value proposition, which means often nixing card benefits and increasing annual fees. However, this one doesn’t hurt like some of the other changes made last year.
Amex removes card benefits
Doctor of Credit writes about Amex removing three card benefits, which may not necessarily affect most people in our community. I’ve been an Amex card holder for well over a decade and never once looked to use either benefit. I don’t think this will barely move the needle for most customers. Amex is going to remove the following card benefits:
- The ability to redeem Membership Rewards points on newegg.com and staples.com after March 31, 2025
- ShopRunner benefit removal from March 31, 2025
- The American Express Auto Purchasing Program from April 28, 2025
World of Hyatt is broken, here’s how to fix it
I really enjoyed listening to this discussion about the World of Hyatt program by Frequent Miler. If you’re like me and love the World of Hyatt program, this discussion is quite informative as it dives into some of the shortcomings of the program and what can be done to fix it.
The World of Hyatt still continues to be one of my favorite hotel loyalty programs. Compared to its peers, the redemption values are pretty reasonable. Despite recent changes, there are still some really good sweet spots that you can leverage to redeem for your next stay.
5 reasons why you should travel with your kids
This is a great post by Points with a crew. I could really relate to this one as I’ve already banked over 40 flights with our toddler. If you love travel, it’s an amazing gift to pass on to the next generation, to help pique their curiosity and help develop a more nuanced understanding of the world since a very early age.
100,000 Miles Offer
In case you missed it, American Express is currently running a limited time offer on the Delta SkyMiles Reserve card. With this offer, you’ll earn a welcome bonus of 100,000 Delta Skymiles after you’re approved for the card and spend $5,000 in the first 6 months of card membership. Given that it’s just $834 per month, this minimum spend should be pretty easy to meet for most people.
You can find a detailed review of the card here.
