Which airlines can you fly to earn bonus British Airways Avios?

Frequent flyer points are funny things and airlines always have different rules and regulations around earning. In each programme, the partners are not equal by any measure.

When it comes to the British Airways Executive Club, you can earn a lot more Avios on each trip by flying with certain airlines. Therefore it makes sense to be armed with this knowledge before booking any travel.

The Best Partner Airlines

Members of the Executive Club can earn bonus points on British Airways flights as they move up the tiers. Bronze members will receive a 25% bonus, Silver get 50% and Gold and above earn 100% extra Avios on each flight.

There are three airlines that British Airways partner with that also earn these bonus points. This means these should be your first choices when booking travel on carriers other than BA.

Heading to the United States? American Airlines has things covered with the bonus Avios being awarded on all tickets. Another partner giving the bonus is Iberia, which is owned by the same company as BA, so perhaps it is not too surprising.

Possibly the most interesting carrier that provides the bonus is Japan Airlines. As a newly minted 5 star Skytrax airline, they should be a choice for anyone heading from the UK to Asia.

What About Aer Lingus?

Aer Lingus is owned by the same company as British Airways and Iberia. It also uses the same Avios currency as the other airlines, however the earning is severely limited with the Executive Club.

Some fares don’t qualify for miles at all, which is not particularly great. In this instance you would need to decide whether to credit to Executive Club or the Aer Lingus AerClub.

Overall Thoughts

When choosing to travel on other airlines, as a British Airways Executive Club member, you should look at purchasing with these three first. It just makes sense, as long as the price is right.

Maximising your earnings where possible makes for faster routes to redemption which is important. After all, why accumulate all those points if you’re never going to use them?
