What is the newly renovated Aer Lingus London Heathrow lounge like?

Aer Lingus spent most of the summer renovating their London Heathrow lounge. During the period, people were sent to the windowless basement Plaza Premium lounge, which on my visit was heaving with people and not very pleasant.

Normal service has now resumed, with the Aer Lingus lounge reopening in early September 2024. Happily, things are much improved in this space, as I found when I visited late one evening.

Aer Lingus London Heathrow Lounge

The lounge design takes its design cues directly from the Aer Lingus lounge in Dublin. In fact, much of the design is the same, so the London Heathrow lounge renovation was more bringing that lounge up to the standard of the one at home base.

Happily, there is now hot food. People report that at dinner time there are options such as beef stew, bean casserole, rice, mashed potato, leek and potato soup and bread. Other snacky things include ginger cake, carrot cake, cookies, cheese and crackers and fruit.

Just like the Dublin lounge, the tables in between the seats feature wireless phone charging, which is a nice addition. Apparently the air-conditioning issue has also been corrected. This lounge did get rather warm during summer, thanks to the floor to ceiling windows.

The toilets and shower are also still present. Morning options, for those wondering, include yoghurt, granola, cereals, danish, as well as hot options to make your own breakfast muffin.

Overall Thoughts

Aer Lingus have listened to the feedback and improved their London Heathrow lounge accordingly. Since this is one of their busiest destinations, it makes sense to have an excellent offering there.

AerClub frequent flyers are certain to be pleased with the improvements. Considering there is also free Wi-Fi and a good location to the right straight after security, there is nothing to complain about really.
