Why is Aer Lingus AerClub Silver status so amazing?

Hi ho, Silver! Yes, I have finally moved up from the basic Green tier in the Aer Lingus AerClub. All it took was some concerted effort and booking some AerSpace fares to get me quickly over the line.

This is the very first rung on the ladder of status at the Irish airline. At most airlines, this is a nothing kind of level. You usually get business class check in and security fast-track and not much else. So why am I excited about it?

Aer Lingus Silver is the sweet spot!

Aer Lingus do things a little differently when compared to other airlines. Silver status gives you the aforementioned security fast-track and priority check-in, but you also get a few other very important things.

Lounge access for the card holder (no guest) is probably the biggest benefit here. Who doesn’t love spending some time in the lounge? The Aer Lingus lounge in Dublin is pretty good, but the one in London Heathrow is arguably the better one, particularly when it comes to food.

The other really excellent tangible benefit is the ability to bring a carry-on bag into the cabin on all tickets. If you purchases Saver fares, as I do, cabin bags are not included and usually cost around €9.99 each way to bring into the cabin. That’s if they are for sale at all, as sometimes they are not, so this is a brilliant benefit.

Finally, you also get priority boarding. All AerClub members board in Group 1, so it doesn’t matter what level you are. That means you’ll be first on board to stow those cabin bags before everyone else. No more fighting for space!

Overall Thoughts

I’m very happy with my Silver status at Aer Lingus, which will streamline my flying out of Ireland. It’s a total no brainer to hold this level in AerClub, and you can find all the benefits are listed here on the airline’s website.

A hot tip for those Green members wanting to go for it. Membership years begin annually on 1 April, and as soon as you hit the 301 Tier Credits, you move up to Silver. In my case I hit it in August, meaning I have the status for the rest of this membership year (through to 31 March 2026), and all of next year (to 31 March 2027). You could conceivably get two years at Silver in one go by doing the flights you need at the beginning of the membership year in April.

What do you think of this frequent flyer level in AerClub? Do you use all the benefits? Thank you for reading and if you have any comments or questions, please leave them below.
