We are now into Day 4 of our 2-week back-to-back (B2B) cruises on Royal Caribbean’s Adventure of the Seas. Our first ports of call were St. Thomas and St. Kitts. We explored St. Thomas on our own, but took an organized shore excursion to hike a volcano. I hiked half a volcano, but the ever dedicated MrsMJ made it to the top. As we were leaving, I remarked that I was coming back and going to the top. MrsMJ quipped “I’m never doing that again.” It was….in a word…intense. Suffice it to say that I need a lot more treadmill time before I try that again, but I think I can say I got my workout in for Tuesday.
About the Ship
Adventure of the Seas is a member of the Voyager Class family of ships which at one time held the title of world’s largest. They’ve since been eclipsed by their Freedom and Oasis Class sisters, but make no mistake, Adventure of the Seas is a big ship. I had some trepidation when we booked these cruises that Adventure would not have been through Royal Caribbean’s latest upgrades, but I need not have worried. The ship is well maintained, and we have experienced a wonderful cruise so far.
Adventuring
I’ll be sharing details about our cruise experience throughout, and finally ending with a capstone post when we return home. For now, here are just a few pictures to get us started. More soon.
