Need to top off your AAdvantage account? Have more hotel points than you need? Then American AAdvantage is offering a short-term deal that may be worth considering.
If you transfer hotel points into AAdvantage from a select list of its hotel partners, AA will throw in a 25% bonus on the amount of miles received. Sadly, SPG®, among others, is not part of this promotion. I typically find better values in spending hotel points on hotels. However, there are a lot of programs where I have “orphan” points that I’ll never get to use like Best Western and Choice. In that case, it can make sense to use this as an opportunity to transfer those orphan points into AAdvantage miles that I definitely will use, and pick up a few bonus miles in the process.
