Ooh-la-la! Look at my upcoming American Airlines business class menu choices

American Airlines lets premium passengers reserve a meal from 30 days before departure. I’m now within that window, so I have just been presented with my business class menu choices.

Perhaps unsurprisingly, when you usually fly long haul, you get a menu given to you at your seat and make your selection then. The risk is that your choice may have run out, something that has only happened to me once in recent memory.

American’s Business Class Menu Choices

Noodling around earlier today, I remembered it’s now close to flight time, so I had a look at the menu choices available. First up is a transatlantic flight to New York, with a morning departure.

Now everyone who regularly reads my scribbles knows I like all the food. Every single one of those choices is something I would like to eat, so I’m in a quandary over what to choose. Any recommendations? The following morning I am flying at the crack of dawn and the choices will be easier. I will likely go with the traditional American breakfast, though the bagel is also calling to me. Whether it will make it into my top five airline breakfast meals remains to be seen.

Overall Thoughts

It’s great to see American Airlines offering so many business class meal choices. I quite like the selection available and am also pretty happy with the pre-ordering before flight.

All I need to do now is make the right choice, so if you know any of these are particularly unmissable, please let me know. I’m leaning towards the steak on the transatlantic, by the way.

Do you like pre-ordering your meal before you fly or do you prefer getting the menu on the day? Thank you for reading and if you have any comments or questions, please leave them below.

It will mostly be disgusting. Don’t be fooled.

Had the bagel with lox on my Cancun flight a few weeks ago and the bagel was decent for being a packaged bagel on an airline, but it was a good portion of smoked salmon, the rest of the traditional lox trimmings (cream cheese, hard boiled egg, onion, tomato, capers, etc.) plus a yogurt and fresh fruit.

I usually hate cooked egg dishes on a US airline (usually they’re either the omelets made with a frozen egg patty or rubbery scrambled eggs) so I would likely skip the American Breakfast.

One of my pet peeves is that airlines should try to have more traditional choices. They try to be all fancy but in reality, the execution and taste at altitude are never going to allow great meals. They need more comfort foods frankly. When people travel they want nice meals but they may also have stomaches that need something less acidic than tomato sauce and spice. To mix in broccoli, etc. is a recipe for trouble in the air. The steak is usually average but a safe bet on AA, The pesto chicken would be good. I like the AA… Read more »

You can make ANYTHING sound good….the question is what will it look like and what will it actually taste like? I find that too often something that sounds too good to be true actually is….especially when it comes to domestic airlines food.

Canneloni. Pasta choices are usually a “safe” bet on US carriers but if you want adventure…well, it all sounds good except the salmon but that’s just me.

Traditional American Breakfast. Because you’re flying…American! Having said that (sorry!), AA does a good frittata as well I’m told, this one looks like a veggie option so if you need to satisfy your carnivorous urges best go back to the TAB. Never liked lox so that kills the bagel for me.

Looking forward to reading about your choices, have a safe trip.
