A Word on Getting M Life Status Based on Being a Royal Caribbean Diamond Plus Cruiser

I’ve written a couple of posts on the relationship between Royal Caribbean, MGM M Life, and Hyatt over the last few weeks. There have been quite a few questions surrounding the benefit, and a good bit of information is already out there on the message boards, including some indications that to get the M Life benefits, you’ll need to present yourself in Vegas. That did not prove to be the case in my experience.

I signed up for M Life just like anyone else at the mlife.com website. Check the upper right corner, and you will see a “Join Now” button.

That brought me to a screen where I enter my email address.

After clicking submit, I was taken to another screen where I reconfirmed my email address and entered all the usual information for joining a program. With that, I was sent to a confirmation page where I had to enter a code I received via email.

After that was done, I clicked on “Contact Us” at the bottom of the page.

I emailed comments@mlife.com and simply said the following.

Hello. I am a Royal Caribbean Diamond Plus Crown & Anchor member. I just joined M Life, and I understand that I may be eligible for more benefits due to my Diamond Plus status. My M Life number is XXXXXXXX. My C&A member number is XXXXXXXXX. Is there a step that I need to take to link the two accounts in order to receive M Life benefits?

As of August 4, 2013, I have not received a response to this, but I signed into my M Life account on the same day, and can see that I have now been awarded Platinum Status in M Life.

I cannot promise you’ll have the same experience I did, but I think it’s worth a try. Now, I’m going to need to find a way for MrsMJ and I to get to Vegas sooner rather than later.

  1. I got my M life Gold status earlier this year during a stay at Bellagio, based on my RCL Emerald Status. I had tried to convert last year (while visiting but not staying at Mandalay Bay) and was denied status, being told I had to be staying at one of the MGM-branded hotels in order to get the conversion. Now, less than 9 months from when I was converted to Gold, I received an email from M-Life this week that says my Gold status expires on this September 30 because I did not earn the prerequisite number of points to maintain Gold Status for another year. So, it appears that either the M-Life people don’t know what they are doing, or the reciprocal status is only good for one cycle (which according to M Life, runs from Oct. 1 to Sept 30 to determine the next year’s status). Anyone else have an experience like this?

    1. @Marilyn,

I haven’t heard of this. I’d suggest calling M-Life. They may not have connected your account to your RCL account properly. I got my M-Life Platinum through RCL too, and did not receive a similar email. Though I do have a few M-Life stays this year.

  2. So does everyone who attended the Hyatt/Mlife launch event (and is now Noir) get a free cruise? Darn lucky bloggers!
