A week in New York in October meant staying at the Westin Times Square. An elegant hotel in a great position, one block from Times Square, that made my stay very enjoyable.

The hotel:
You arrive on the ground floor where there is a valet desk where someone can help with your bags or get a taxi for you.
Up the escalator we go and there is a large lounging area where you can hang out with the check in desk to one side.

Check-in was easy. We got there at about 5:30 on a Saturday afternoon and I did not have too long to wait in the Elite check in line.

A gym is available on the 9th floor. It has a lot of equipment in a smallish space for you to pound away on.

The Foundry bar and restaurant takes up the one side of the building on this first floor. It serves breakfast, drinks and dinner.

This sign was at the elevators showing the layout of the hotel. A lot of meeting rooms available over 6 different floors. The gift shop was next to reception and was rather useful. It stayed open till 10 at night. You can see reception listed as being on the 2nd floor.

The room:
A fine room with all required facilities – fridge, safe, iron, ice bucket, etc.

The view from my room. I can see The Edge, one of the newer outdoor viewing platforms.

A nice chair at the desk, as well as a slightly more relaxing comfy chair.

Ice bucket, coffee machine, but only silly plastic and paper cups.

Standard cupboard with ironing board, iron, luggage rack and hangars. I also used the laundry service while I was there. It is not available on weekends but on Monday morning it went out and by Monday evening the laundry all nice and neat on hangars was in my cupboard when I got back.

The bathroom:
You always expect a hotel like the Westin to cosset you with its facilities, and this bathroom while small did have a walk-in shower cubicle.
Single sink with hand wash.

Nice big shower head and hand wand. Very nice water pressure. The large shower head was nice but I ended up using the hand wand for my normal shower as the pressure is harder.

Westin’s own shampoo, conditioner and body wash. White Tea with aloe extract is the aroma, along with citrus blossom, jasmine and rosewood.

Conclusion:
A fine hotel in a very useful location. We were there until 2 days before the New York marathon and there were many runners already checked in and the hotel had an area set aside for runners too.
This Westin is a great hotel to stay at if you are in New York and want to be near Times Square.
