Spent 9 days at MGM Grand in Las Vegas early in January. Luckily the weather was not too cold but of course most summer facilities like pools, etc are closed.
There was one heated pool that is available for swimming. There were a few days of sunny weather so people were swimming and sunbathing on those days.
The MGM Grand is one of the 3 biggest hotels in the world with just over 5,000 rooms so it is quite an experience being in the space.

Looking ahead to February the spread of room rates is between $99 per night up to $680 per night. There is also February 2nd where the cheapest room available is $1095 per night. Must be a busy convention or a fight or something in town. Fascinating to think you can stay at the MGM Grand for less than $100 a night.

This is the hotel where David Copperfield has his residency. He first appeared on tv in 1977 so it is nearly 50 years since we first met him. This is the entrance to the theater where he performs. There are many mementos of different honors that David has received throughout his life.
(Fun fact: I was randomly drawn from the audience during one of his shows and he made me disappear from the stage. It was fascinating to be part of the illusion!)

But I digress, let us go look at the room.
The room:
Rather a good room for the price. More than enough space for one or 2 people. I chose a single bed this trip as it was available for earlier check in.
I normally choose 2 beds if the option is available.

2 comfy chairs and a little table at the window. A desk with a proper lamp and comfy chair. I found this desk to be very useful.

There are various items available in your room like water, crisps, alcohol and soft drinks, at a steep price of course..
The MGM Grand had a refurbishment in 2025 and one of the delights to come from it is this small fridge for personal use.
For years there has been a constant bickering between clients and Las Vegas hotels about fridges and what space you can use and ‘if you move it we charge for it’.
The fact that the MGM has put this small fridge in the room is really great. It is so useful for milk and cheese and yoghurt and such. Well done MGM.

This is becoming the normal cupboard in comfortable hotels in the US with an iron, ironing board, luggage rack and safe.

This picture was on the wall of the bedroom. It has a great motto on it. ‘Follow the call of the disco ball’.

The bathroom:

Lovely basin with hairdryer, hand soap and hand cream, a shaving mirror and real drinking glasses.

Plain shower head with no hand wand. The toiletries are MGM Resorts own, infused with fragrances such as aloe, jojoba and camomile.

I will add this to my collection of hotel bathroom pictures. Not really a picture but still, it is on the wall in the bathroom.

This was the view out of my window. The airport is to the right and in the morning the aircraft would fly right across my window as they were taking off.
A pleasant view.

This is the centrepoint of each floor. As you get off the elevator you enter this area and 4 spines lead off in 4 directions to the rooms.

Facilities at the hotel:
With 5,000 rooms and maybe more than 8,000 people staying in your hotel you need a lot of things for those people.
Here are some of the places for them to enjoy.
The beginning of the Las Vegas monorail is in the MGM Grand. It winds its way from here all the way up the Strip to the Sahara hotel which is across the road from the most iconic building on the Strip, the Stratosphere Tower.

Here is the Friends experience where you can sit on the set of Friends, or attend a comedy evening at the Brad Garrett comedy club. You might remember Brad from ‘Everybody loves Raymond’. He appeared in all 210 episodes of the show.

The MGM Grand Garden Arena is in the hotel too. This is where title fights and comedy festivals and music concerts are held.

The District has a food court as well as fancy restaurants, a TopGolf driving range, the pool and much more.

Talking of the pool, this is the heated pool that was open in January. This picture was taken early so it didn’t have any swimmers or sun bathers yet.

The hotel also has a Cirque du Soleil venue (KA is the show) as well as Hakkasan night club, one of the premier club hang outs in Las Vegas.

Conclusion:
I had a great stay this year. The fridge makes a world of difference, the heated pool was great (it was closed for repairs last year), and there are so many things to keep you busy. Always an impressive hotel.
