Washington Reagan National is deep in the process of beefing up its retail and restaurant offerings.

Construction signs and “grand opening” banners abound. This morning, for instance, I passed a “grand opening” sign in pre-security Terminal B at Spanx, the women’s undergarments brand that’s opening stores and a construction notice on the Starbucks on the ticketing level.

Legal Sea Foods re-opened at the airport, and local hotdog institution Ben’s Chili Bowl, opened a location. You can read more about the changes on local ABC affiliate WJLA.com’s website or on the Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority website that specifically highlights retail and restaurant openings.

Celebrated chefs are even getting into the mix.

In Terminal C, chef Mike Isabella will open Kapnos Taverna, a local D.C. concept serving Mediterranean and Greek favorites. In Terminal B/C, chef Richard Sandoval will open a location of El Centro D.F., which serves Mexican comfort food.

I just hope Terminal B receives another branded coffee outlet, since the line at Dunkin’ Donuts for early morning flights is always long!
