Condor Joins List of Alaska Airlines Mileage Plan Partners

Alaska Airlines had an impressive 18 airline partners before today.  However, Alaska Airlines announced today, a 19th partner.  Condor Airlines of Germany is now an official Alaska Airlines Mileage Plan partner.  Condor Airlines partners with Alaska Airlines effective immediately.  Condor Airlines frequent flyer can now earn miles with Alaska Airlines and Alaska Airlines frequent flyers can now earn with Condor Airlines.  Redemptions will begin at a later date.

Fantastic for Alaska Airlines Mileage Plan Members

Alaska Airlines Mileage Plan is tied with American AAdvantage as my favorite frequent flyer program.  With 18 partners, Mileage Plan boasts an insane amount of opportunities to earn and redeem miles.  Partners include American Airlines, Qantas, and Emirates.  The addition of Condor Airlines only solidifies Alaska’s Mileage Plan program.

However, there’s still a lot that’s not known at the moment.  This includes redemption rates for award travel on Condor.

Condor’s not known for having one of the most luxurious business class products but it does have a very competitive economy product.  Condor Airlines is a low-cost holiday carrier which might mean cheaper European award travel.  Additionally, Condor boasts a Premium Economy product which offers a buffer between economy and business class award travel.

Earning Rates

Alaska Airlines has released the following earning rates.

The first thing you should notice is the 200% bonus if you book business class.  Second, the lack of bonuses in Economy.  The earning rates with Condor aren’t anything to get too excited about but, they are competitive rates.  Overall, it’s a pretty standard earning chart when compared to Alaska’s other partners.

Overall

This is a pretty phenomenal announcement.  With Alaska and Delta’s partnership ending in the coming month, there will be less European award travel space.  Condor Airlines will offer fantastic options for award travel to Europe.  I am interested to see what the redemption rates will be.  With a low-cost holiday carrier like Condor Airlines, we could see cheaper European award travel.

What do you think about Alaska Airlines and Condor Airlines partnering?  Will you redeem or earn Mileage Plan miles with Condor Airlines?
