Checked in just now for a 1-night stay at my favorite Atlanta hotel. For the first time in….well, ever…. I did not receive an upgraded room. Even as an SPG Gold, I’ve always received upgrades from “Wonderful” to “Spectacular” accommodations at this property, and frankly, every other W property I’ve visited. Not today. Since hitting the SPG Platinum level, I’ve had a couple of great suite upgrades here, but none on my last 2 visits. Granted, I’m not exactly paying the world’s highest hotel rate tonight. But come on…not even a little higher floor love? The 17th floor seems so close to the ground. OK, I’ll stop. 🙂

I was very disappointed regarding an SPG stay at the Sheraton PHX. They did not provide any upgrades for SPG Corporate Preferred. You had to be Platinum to get an upgrade to the club level which is provided at most hotels at the Gold level (e.g. Hilton & Marriott.) I spoke to the MOD and emailed SPG and did not get anywhere. I haven’t been a regular at SPG hotels largely due to few club lounges, charges even for toll free calls, etc. The PHX Sheraton experience didn’t entice me to go back to SPG. BTW, did you ask at… Read more »
Mika,
Thanks for commenting. I didn’t ask, as the front desk apologized that no upgrades were available as part of the check-in conversation. However, the website was showing “Spectacular” rooms available for sale, but those were double bed rooms….not single king like I prefer. All in all, not a big deal, but I thought it was noteworthy that this had never happened to me before at this hotel. Life goes on. Enjoyed my stay, and enjoyed the lobby lounge Living Room patio outside on a beautiful night in Georgia.
LOL. I feel ya. A “little” love shown wouldn’t hurt the W.
