Planes, trains, and automobiles…..oh, and ships too. That describes this week and most of the next month in travel. I’ve never seen a Sky Club go from packed to borderline deserted in 60 seconds, but I guess that’s the way things go on Thursday evening at DCA. The 5PM just pushed, and I’m on the 6PM. #4 for 1 seat on the upgrade list, so this isn’t going to go well for me. There are 7 open seats on the 7PM. One might be inclined to say…what the heck are you doing?!?! It’s only an hour. But is it? Not tonight. The 7PM is delayed until 7:30PM, and a quick look at flightaware.com tells a bigger story.
The airplane for the 7PM is being operated by a flight from Detroit that doesn’t arrive until 7:20PM. See the problem here? 7:30PM will quickly become 8PM, and the flight hasn’t even left Detroit yet. If this one flight were the end of the road, I might still be inclined to think about it, but that’s not the whole story. I’m cutting a business trip short to head home, so MrsMJ and I can fly to Miami tomorrow morning to celebrate our anniversary.
In other words, sometimes coach is OK.

Yeah, you gotta make it home. Happy wife, happy life. Congrats on your anniversary!
Thanks!
Sometimes…like when they only have one cabin of service!
Good one, Gene. 🙂 I was validated. As I arrived at the gate, they announced the 7 was now delayed until 9:30pm. 😀
